At the turn of the new and old years, mental health has once again become the focus of public attention. In early December last year, KY and Dr. Dingxiang jointly launched a survey to investigate the mental health of contemporary people.
Where do our psychological distress come from? Where did we get strength when encountering distress? And where do we hope to get more support?
Look at the results of this survey——
In the questionnaire, we asked the interviewees to subjectively assess their mental health in the past month, and scored from 0-10. In the survey participants, the overall average of subjective mental health was 5.23 points;
At the same time, we have several negative emotions, self-knowledge, social support system, cognitive effectiveness that is, how much a person can concentrate on doing something, emotional adjustment ability, and ability to deal with negative experience.It was measured as an objective mental health indicator of Tas Guo Fei et al., 2019.
The results show that the overall average mental health of the visitors is 5.89 points, which is significantly higher than the subjective assessment of Ta people p <.00.
Note: It should be noted that self-evaluation data may be affected by the characteristics of the KnowYourself fan group. Compared with the general population, KY fans are more concerned about mental health and require higher levels of mental health, which may lead to the overall self-evaluation of Ta scores.Low.
* 26.22% of the interviewees underestimated their level of mental health. In other words, there are so many of us who have better actual mental health than they think they are.
In terms of age, education level, and location, the older the age, the higher the education level, and the more developed the city is, the better the objective mental health level is; in terms of marriage and love status, compared with other interviews, People in intimate relationships including love and marriage have a higher level of mental health;
It seems that getting older, reading, loving each other, and improving economic ability can indeed make people happier.
This survey also found that indicators of other aspects of life were significantly positively related to objective mental health levels. Specifically :

The visitors' mental health level is also higher when the above six conditions are met.
In the questionnaire, we asked everyone to evaluate the extent to which they felt various negative emotions in the past month with 0-10 points. In the survey participants, the average value of this question was 6.04 points.
Overall, the higher the education level, the higher the income, the higher the sleep satisfaction, and the higher the sexual life satisfaction, the lower the degree of negative emotions.

As shown in the figure, in these three items, the overall average of the respondents exceeded 7 points out of 10 points;
Of all the interviewees, the respondents who felt fatigue, anxiety, and stress at 8-10 points out of 10 points accounted for 51.20%, 50.29%, and 46.51% respectively. In other words, nearly halfI feel quite tired, anxious and stressed.
* Women interviewed felt significantly more negative emotions than men interviewed.
Data show that women interviewed experience anxiety, fatigue, stress, depression, depression, despair, and thought of death more often than men interviewed.

From the perspective of educational level, the survey results confirm the common knowledge that "knowledge is power": the higher the level of education, the lower the degree of despair and lack of interest in life.
There are no significant differences in the categories of life events that affect the mood most among the interviewees of different genders and different marriage statuses.
* The older the interviewees, the less influence the work and study situation and interpersonal relationships have on the emotions of the Ta people, and the more obvious the impact of family relationships and personal health conditions.
Although the self-scoring scores of the mental health level of the interviewees were not low 5.23 points out of 10 points, 84.77% of the interviewees thought that they may or have ever had one or more mental illnesses, including depressionDisease, bipolar disorder bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, substance addiction, and other mental illnesses.
Among them, the top three mental illnesses are depression 58.40%, anxiety 53.73%, and obsessive-compulsive disorder 23.12%.
Only 15.23% of the interviewees did not consider themselves previously suffering from any mental illness.
From the perspective of gender, women 85.18% who thought they were previously sick were slightly more than men 81.57%.
From the perspective of generations, the proportion of respondents who think they have experienced mental illness after 80s and 90s is high, which is 85.61% and 85.08% respectively; the percentage of respondents after 70s is the lowest 78.04%.
We think that this data may still be caused by the sample characteristics of the KY fan group. Because we suspect that we have or have had a mental illness, we have paid attention to us. The objective mental health level mentioned in the previous article just gives usThis group offers friendly hints-negative emotions are not the same as mental illness, and many times we don't have to worry too much.
* But what is more interesting is how do people generally cope with their mental sub-health state or mental illness?
Data show that among all the interviewees N = 23322, sleeping, shopping online, playing games, eating, etc. became the first choice 62.47%. This may be because, compared with other methods, this kind of behavior is easier to achieve, The cost both money and other costs looks lower and more manageable.
Many interviewees also said they would talk to someone about psychological distress 54.94%.
There are also some people who choose to cultivate hobbies 41.71%, go out to play with friends and relatives, chat or participate in other social activities 41.45%, exercise 41.01% and other positive activities to relieve emotional stress.
Unfortunately but unexpectedly, only 21.48% of the interviewees tried professional services such as psychological counseling and helpline; and only 12.09% of them went to a mental health center or hospital for psychiatry.
We also asked everyone why they did not seek psychological counselling or mental health diagnosis :
* 58.03% of the interviewees stated that they think they can face or solve their current psychological problems / ill-being.
Facing such an answer, on the one hand, we are pleased that these users have a sufficient sense of power and believe in their abilities. On the other hand, they are also worried about lack of understanding of psychological problems, fear of seeking medical treatment, or havingMust be biased.
Other reasons why people do not seek professional help include that they cannot afford the cost of treatment or course of treatment 43.30% and do not know how to find reliable treatment channels 38.35%, etc.
Among the 2,820 interviewees who chose to seek medical treatment, 82.30% of them were diagnosed, to a certain extent, reflecting the judgement of the severity of their mental health problems by the active medical interviewees, which confirmed the timely seeking of professional help,Necessity of a medical diagnosis.
Of the 2,315 interviewees diagnosed above, more than 90% 91.79% chose to receive treatment including medication, professional psychological treatment, etc. as prescribed by a doctor;
less than 10% of the respondents 8.21% did not choose to receive treatment. The main concerns include "feeling that the condition is not serious and being able to recover on their own", "afraid of addiction or dependence" and "affordability in time or money".

In this survey, we noticed that among the respondents who thought they had a psychological sub-health state or previously suffered from a mental illness, even conservative estimates indicated that at least 60% of them did not seek professional help.
At the same time, this survey also reflects that although many people have not reached the severity of the disease, they are already in a state of psychological sub-health, and they need a lower burden, more accessible, and more disease-free way to cope withYour own psychological distress.
